Kuk-Jin Yoon
Professor
Professor Kuk-Jin Yoon is a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and serves as the Vice Director of the KAIST AI Institute. He leads the Visual Intelligence Laboratory (VILAB).
He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from KAIST, and subsequently worked as a researcher at INRIA in France and as a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at GIST. He joined KAIST as a professor in 2018.
His main research interests include visual intelligence, autonomous driving, event cameras, robot vision, multi-sensor fusion, and 3D computer vision.
He actively contributes to the research community as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI) and serves as an Area Chair for major AI conferences.
As the Vice Director of the KAIST AI Institute, he also plays a leading role in shaping next-generation AI research strategies, including Full-Stack AI, Physical AI, and Embodied AI.
