Generative AI and Copyright Law

The rapid advancement of generative AI poses new challenges for copyright law — including whether AI-generated works can be copyrighted, the need to expand the definition of authorship, and copyright-infringement issues that can arise during AI training. These changes call for new legislation or interpretation.

This talk examines the attribution of copyright for AI-generated content and the infringement risks that arise when such content resembles existing works. It also looks at copyright and data-ethics issues across the AI lifecycle, including the copyright status of training datasets and personal-data protection.
