Building a Social Safety Platform with AI and Robotics

Beyond generative AI, we are entering the era of Physical AI — a new paradigm in which AI and robots combine to make autonomous decisions and act in the physical world. This talk centers on the AI/robot-based social-safety platform and humanoid-robot innovation strategy pursued by the KIST AI & Robotics Institute, with recent research trends and demonstration cases.

Under the vision of “realizing a safe and reassuring society for citizens through AI and robotics,” the institute develops and demonstrates services for locating dementia patients and missing persons and for safe return home, off-road autonomous companion robots, and humanoid robots capable of complex tasks. Through collaboration with domestic companies (LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor, KT) and global partners, it is validating challenging technologies in AI, humanoids, and autonomous-driving robots step by step, aiming to complete urban-safety monitoring and disaster-response systems.
