French-Korean Workshop on AI, Network & Communication, Programming Languages and Applied Mathematics

National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) hosted the French-Korean Workshop on AI, Network & Communication, Programming Languages and Applied Mathematics on November 27, 2024, bringing together researchers from France and Korea to share recent advances in AI and explore avenues for future collaboration.

The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from Chong Song, Dean of KAIST Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI, Cecile Vigouroux, Head of International Relations at INRIA, and Pierre Morcos, Counselor for Culture, Science and Education at the French Embassy in Korea. Following introductions to major AI research achievements at each institution, Juyoung Kim of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea presented the Horizon Europe program.

In the technical sessions, a total of 22 speakers presented their research and exchanged views across three themes: AI and Robotics, Generative AI, and AI and HPC. The workshop concluded with a networking session in which researchers from both countries freely discussed directions for future cooperation.

Participants included Karteek Alahari, Deputy Scientific Director for AI at INRIA, along with researchers from INRIA, KISTI, KAIST, and POSTECH, among more than 70 attendees in total. NAIRL will continue to serve as a bridge connecting Korea’s AI research community with leading institutions around the world.
