NAIRL Hosts Exchange Meeting with Qatar Foundation Delegation
The National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) hosted an exchange meeting with a delegation from the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) and Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), both under Qatar Foundation, at the Seoul AI Hub on the 10th to explore potential avenues for AI research collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed K. Elmagarmid, Executive Director of QCRI, and Mr. Ahmed Al Said, Business Development Director of QSTP, alongside NAIRL Director Kee-Eung Kim and members of the lab’s research team.
Qatar Foundation is one of Qatar’s foremost nonprofit organizations, spanning education, science, and community development. It operates “Education City,” a landmark campus home to world-class university branches and multiple research institutes. QCRI, a flagship research institute under Qatar Foundation, conducts leading research in natural language processing, cybersecurity, and foundation AI, while QSTP drives technology commercialization and startup ecosystem development.
During the meeting, both sides introduced their respective visions and research directions in an open and amicable exchange. The discussion revealed strong mutual interest across shared priority areas including foundational and applied AI research.
Director Kim remarked, “Qatar Foundation’s integrated ecosystem connecting research, education, and commercialization is truly impressive,” adding, “We look forward to expanding exchanges between our two institutions and contributing together to global AI innovation.”
We extend our sincere gratitude to the QCRI and QSTP delegation for joining us in this meaningful exchange. NAIRL remains committed to deepening its engagement with leading research institutions worldwide in pursuit of a thriving global AI ecosystem.
