NAIRL Highlights Global Collaboration for AI Safety at India AI Impact Summit
Last month, the National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) successfully participated in AI Safety Connect (AISC) at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi to discuss the future of global AI safety and international collaboration.
Director Kee-Eung Kim joined the Session 4 panel titled “The Last Question: Will We Lose Control of Advanced AI?”, where he shared NAIRL’s core philosophy and research direction with global experts.
During the session, Director Kim strongly emphasized that AI safety and trust are not constraints or obstacles to innovation, but rather the most essential foundations driving the continuous advancement of artificial intelligence.
He highlighted NAIRL’s commitment to embedding safety directly into foundational R&D. By showcasing frontier research ranging from robust machine learning to machine unlearning, Director Kim demonstrated how NAIRL is successfully turning abstract policy aspirations into concrete engineered mechanisms.
Furthermore, he proposed that trustworthy AI must be a global baseline, not a privilege, stressing the necessity of “Shared Capacity” through collaborative R&D. NAIRL made it clear that it remains completely open to international collaboration, leveraging Korea’s ecosystem-driven model to bridge the global AI divide.
We extend our deepest gratitude to AI Safety Connect, as well as Nicolas Miailhe and Cyrus Hodes, for organizing such a critical platform for dialogue and action. NAIRL looks forward to continuing these vital partnerships with stakeholders across borders to build a safe and innovative AI ecosystem.
