AI Experts Call for Regulatory Reform and Ecosystem Revitalization

Director Kim Kee-eung of the National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) and other leading domestic AI industry experts collectively emphasized the urgent need to abolish outdated regulations hindering high-tech industries, advocating for the introduction of negative regulations and an active data trading market.

In particular, Director Kim stressed that the upcoming AI Basic Law must be thoroughly reviewed during follow-up legislative processes to prevent overlapping regulations with existing laws, while simultaneously accelerating the nation’s AI development by attracting outstanding global talent.

Furthermore, the experts suggested that the public and private sectors must collaborate to secure open AI foundation models and provide full-scale infrastructure support, enabling SMEs and startups to create diverse and innovative business models.
