Se-Young Yun

Associate Professor

Professor Seyoung Yun is a faculty member at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), where he leads the Optimization and Statistical Inference (OSI) Lab. He also serves as the Director of the AI Weather Forecasting Research Center.

 

He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from KAIST in 2006 and 2012, respectively. After completing his doctorate, he held postdoctoral research positions at several leading institutions, including the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), the INRIA–Microsoft Research Joint Centre (France), Microsoft Research Cambridge (UK), and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA).

 

Since joining KAIST as a professor in 2017, Professor Yun has been actively conducting research to understand and improve the efficiency and generalization performance of learning algorithms through rigorous theoretical analysis. His work focuses on developing algorithms that optimize data efficiency and enhance computational performance in machine learning systems.
