Kee-Eung Kim

Head of National AI Research Lab

Professor Kee-Eung Kim is Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and leads the KAIST AIPR (Artificial Intelligence and Probabilistic Reasoning) Lab.

Professor Kim earned his bachelor’s degree from KAIST in 1995 and completed his Ph.D. at Brown University in 2001. After working at Samsung SDS and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, he joined KAIST as a faculty member in 2006. His research focuses on modeling and developing algorithms for sequential decision-making problems, including Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) and Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs), which are foundational in reinforcement learning. Additionally, he conducts research across a wide range of topics in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
