About NAIRL
NAIRL is directed from KAIST and led by principal investigators across its four hosting universities — a cross-functional team that sets research direction and steers collaboration across the consortium.

As Director, Kee-Eung Kim leads NAIRL’s overall research strategy and oversees the consortium’s operations across its four hosting universities. A leading scholar in reinforcement learning and probabilistic reasoning, he heads the KAIST AI & Probabilistic Reasoning Lab and directs the lab’s pursuit of foundational, next-generation AI.
He guides NAIRL’s mission to build an open national research platform — one that unites Korea’s AI talent with the world’s leading institutions and elevates the country’s standing in global AI research and governance.
Principal investigators from the hosting universities and the leads of NAIRL’s three research pillars form a cross-functional council — making decisions together to strengthen collaboration and sharpen Korea’s AI research competitiveness.
