Klaus-Robert Müller
Professor
Professor Klaus-Robert Müller received his Diploma in Mathematical Physics in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science in 1992, both from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
From 1992 to 1994, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at GMD FIRST in Berlin, where he founded the Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA) research group. From 1994 to 1995, he was a European Community STP Research Fellow in Professor Amari’s laboratory at the University of Tokyo, Japan.
From 1995 to 2008, he served as the Head of the IDA Department at GMD FIRST in Berlin (which was reorganized as Fraunhofer FIRST in 2001). Since 1999, he has also held a joint Associate Professorship between GMD and the University of Potsdam. In 2003, he was appointed Full Professor at the University of Potsdam, and in 2006, he became Chair Professor of the Machine Learning Department at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin). He has also lectured at Humboldt University, TU Berlin, and the University of Potsdam.
