NAIRL Holds First Open Lab to Bridge Academia and Industry

The National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) hosted its first Open Lab event, the ‘AI Innovation Showcase @ NAIRL 2025,’ on the 19th at the Seoul AI Hub to explore strategies for building an AI innovation ecosystem through industry-academia-research collaboration.

Director Kee-Eung Kim emphasized that the showcase goes beyond a simple presentation of achievements, serving as a platform to design Korea’s future together by combining foundational technologies—which are difficult for the private sector to tackle alone—with the commercialization capabilities of the industry.

Featuring key milestones in next-generation model optimization and robot foundation models, this event marks a significant starting point for translating academic research into practical industrial innovations and propelling Korea into a global AI powerhouse.
