KAIST AI and NAIRL Host Exchange Meeting with Japan’s MEXT Delegation
KAIST Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI and the National AI Research Lab (NAIRL) jointly hosted an exchange meeting with a delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Embassy of Japan in Korea at the Seoul AI Hub to discuss opportunities for AI research exchange and collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Takashi Fuchigami, Director-General of the Research Promotion Bureau at MEXT, Mr. Sotaro Ikeda, Deputy Director of the Information Science and Technology Division at MEXT, and representatives from MEXT and the Embassy of Japan in Korea. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Song Chong, Head of KAIST Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI, Prof. Kee-Eung Kim, Director of NAIRL, and members of the research and administrative teams from both institutions.
During the meeting, both sides shared high-level perspectives on their respective AI research initiatives and research ecosystems, and exchanged views on ways to continue expanding exchange and collaboration between the AI research communities of Korea and Japan. The discussion took place in an open and amicable atmosphere, focusing on AI R&D, research ecosystems, and future opportunities for international cooperation.
Prof. Song Chong remarked, “We were pleased to welcome the MEXT delegation and to share KAIST’s efforts in AI research and education. We hope this exchange will contribute to continued dialogue between the AI research communities of Korea and Japan.”
Prof. Kee-Eung Kim added, “NAIRL is committed to building an open and collaborative AI research ecosystem. We look forward to exploring further opportunities for exchange and cooperation with our counterparts in Japan.”
